Who needs an NZeTA?
It depends on your passport, residency and travel plans. Visa waiver visitors, many cruise passengers and Australian permanent residents may need one. Australian and New Zealand citizens do not. Check your circumstances with Immigration New Zealand.
How long is an NZeTA valid?
Most travellers can use an NZeTA for multiple journeys over two years. You must use the passport linked to it; a new passport requires a new NZeTA.
When should I apply?
Allow at least 72 hours. Some requests take longer, so arrange it ahead of your trip. See official processing guidance.
Is an NZeTA the same as a visa?
No. It is permission to travel for eligible visitors and transit passengers. Entry is decided at the border. Read the official NZeTA guidance.
